Here there is a litter called "Yesterday's News," made from old newspaper, which is better to use for cats that have open wounds on their paws. Is there anything like that in Germany? Maybe Peggy's vet will have some suggestions.

A marten bite! That must have HURT. I am glad the wound opened and is draining now...the healing will go faster!

Did the vet say anything to your mom about Peggy being INDOORS from now on?

What the heck is a marten? Is that a type of spider or something? Will have to look this up now...

Poor Peggy. I hope it starts to heal up quickly. I know Calloway's abscess on his tail took a while to heal. I had to put warm compresses on it, and use betadine.

OMG... that is just a nasty looking creature!!! Never seen one here in PA, that's for sure! But maybe we call them something else? They're really unpleasant looking. She's probably lucky she didn't get hurt worse. I hope Peggy gets to stay inside from now on!

Martens in Europe are kind of like fishers in North America. Either is a good reason to keep a cat indoors.

Martens, or Marder as they are called here, sure look like rodents, but actually they are little carnivores. They are not very popular here as they cause damage in cars by chewing the cords.

Looks like Peggy really got involved in a fight with one, as today, the abscess opened on the opposite site of her pad as well, and it looked very nasty, full of pus and liquid. I will post some photos of her later. She looked very miserable earlier today (and hissed at me when she got her pill), but my mother just called to tell me that Peggy has started walking around on three legs, and she even wanted to go out (which of course she wasn't allowed to).

I'll post some new pics of her later!
