We just got back from the vet's office. The ultrasound showed no heart disease, which is a good thing, but the thymoma was confirmed, which is not so good.

But as Miss Hoppy is ten years old, and the only current option is surgery, there's nothing medically to be done about the tumor. Dr. Hartman, (nice lady, she's been Miss Hoppy's vet for ten years!) who said, "Well, at her age, she's sorta past her expiration date anyway," said she wouldn't want to risk Miss Hoppy not even surviving the anesthesia. She will consult with other rabbit vets, and offered me the choice of having a consult with Angel Memorial or Tufts if we wanted to go ahead with the surgery. But the surgery is major, even if she survived the anesthesia, then they'd have to crack open her chest ...

The okay news is thymomas are not very active tumors, and it could stay the same size for years.

She said, "Because of her age, you might want to do nothing, but count every day your bunny is with you as a blessing anyway."

When I told her people were praying for Miss Hoppy all over the world, Dr. Hartman said "Awwwww!"

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Miss Hoppy is glad to be home, and is munching a treat in the kitchen.

I think it's good not to operate, because our furry friends don't understand what's going on and then they have fear and discomfort. All you can do at this point is enjoy each other's company as long as you can.

I'm sorry that she can't have the operation. Let's all hope that the tumor stays inactive. I hope you've got many years left with that sweet bunny. I'm sure she is very happy to be back home. When I was a kid I had a bunny. He loved to be held like a baby and petted between the ears. So, please give Miss Hoppy some gentle pets between her ears from me.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

*sigh* At least it isn't an aggressive tumor and the vet is consulting with other specialists.

Give Miss Hoppy some in-between ear scritchies for me... or some clover... which ever she'd prefer

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.

With all the prayers for Miss Hoppy for her tumor to go dormant surely it will. I pray that you have many more years with her and that her health remains just as it is. Kisses for Miss Hoppy!

    Miss Hoppy

Hi Karen, it has been a long time since I have posted...been deployed. When I logged on I was so sad to hear about Miss Hoppy! You and Daiseylover were one of the first "friends" I had that helped immensely with me as a new bunny mom! All prayers to Miss Hoppy and I will be checking for updates.

I hope the tumor stays inactive and you'll will be able to enjoy Miss Hoppy's company for a long while yet. I'm glad to hear she doesn't seem to be in pain.

Sending positive thoughts - please give her some nosekisses from us.
