That would be as bad as parents forgetting they had kids in the car. That is sickening, a clear case of animal cruelty.

How, praytell, does one forget a child/dog/cat in a car?

I've forgotten my keys, glasses, and other inanimate objects in various places, but fail to see how one could forget a living being anywhere.

Way to treat your partner, jerk! Like someone else at work pointed out. If a citizen kills a police dog, they're charged with killing an officer. This sargeant at least needs to be demoted to regular patrol, if not fired, or at least suspended.

I wonder if he will ever have to repay the thousands of dollars it takes to train a police dog.....any damage to police property by a citizen and it's a huge restitution fine.

I live here in Phoenix, and this has been all over the news.


Apparently the offficer was pulling another shift assignment, and the moment he walked into his house he was notifyed that his son was in a terrible car accident, so he & his wife jumped into her car and took off.

Accident??? Maybe, but if was a civilian that did this, he would most likely be in jail right now for animal abuse.

I can't give a reason as to why this person is not under arrest or in jail.

Just a thought, but WHY didn't the dog just follow him out of the car? I don't know too much about police dogs, but I just assumed that they follow their handlers around unless given a comand.

I'm just as baffled as the rest of you.

Thank goodness they fired the idiot. I don't think he should even be allowed a law enforcement career ever again.
