My heart breaks for you for the loss of your beloved furbaby Mishi. **HUG** I hope he and Soni can find each other and be great buddies. They can play with turbo scratchers and run through a field of catnip.

    R.I.P. gorgeous Mishi

Mishi's Ashes Came Home Today :(

The vet's office called me late Saturday to let me know his ashes were back. I picked them up today, just in time for the Rainbow Bridge Monday Night Candle Ceremony tonight. I missed it last week because a friend was in from out of town - I was really torn between going to dinner with my friend or begging off for Mishi's memorial. He's a former BF and is always supportive, so I went out to dinner.

I AM a bit miffed with Pet's Rest as they got Mishi's Date of Death wrong! I am going to contact them to see if they will issue a new certificate for me to affix to the beautiful little box. Mishi's box is smaller than Goldie's however his is more elegant - it's stained a lovely cherry color and has a golden lock on it.

All in all, we're doing okay. Mitzi misses her brother and is meowing a lot more, demanding affection, snuggling more, and being more playful. I'm toying with the idea of getting her another kitty partner. I tried contacting KAK's pet psychic to see if I could get a reading as to whether or not Mitzi misses Mishi or wants a new partner, however she's going on vacation for 10 days and then said she has a backlog of "several weeks" after she returns. I'm not sure I can wait that long - Mitzi is being very cute - bordering on annoying I worry about her being lonely.

A friend who does cat rescues has an orange Maine Coon. I'm just waiting for pictures and time to meet him/her - I don't even know the sex yet! As is always the case with cats, the right one will pick us. I just have to be patient.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and caring over the past several months. I still miss my Big Goon - he left big paw prints on my heart. I'm so glad Sirrahbed gave me that box to keep Mishi's whiskers in. I added some of his fur too and it sits on my dresser. RIP sweet Mishi my golden prince, till we meet again.

EDIT: Right after we finished the Monday Night Candle Ceremony at the Rainbow Bridge site, I received an e-mail from Nancy, the pet psychic. She said my cats were very easy to read and we made an appointment for tomorrow night.

It's been a very spiritual evening; even Mitzi knew we were doing something special when the Candle Ceremony started. She meowed at all the candles and then sat quietly while I cried and read the prayers out loud to her as they scrolled across the screen. We had Mishi's ashes and his little whisker box out too. This evening has helped to bring some closure, although my heart still grieves for our golden boy. Rest in peace my sweet boybee.

What a sweet and touching goodbye to a beloved friend. My deepest sympathy to you and Mitzi. They do indeed leave paw prints in our hearts, don't they.

    Rest in peace, cherished boy.
