    Poor Anna.

I'm sure Bon didn't mean it - he is such a sweet boy. Some dogs are just food aggressive. I think Mufasa has a bit of it in him - that's the only mean bone in his body.

If Bon had REALLY meant it there's no doubt that he could have done some serious injury to you or Huney. He didn't really mean it though - it was a mistake.

Bon might be happier in a home by himself.
I'm not sure if you've ever had dogs, however, as a person with 4 of them I know food aggression is a VERY common thing. This does not mean they aren't capable of living in a home with other dogs. It just means they must be seperated at meal times.

There will always be squabbles in a home with multiple animals, of any species, it's a risk that we all take. Just like a home with multiple children, there's garunteed to be a fight or argument.

There is a big difference between food aggression, dog aggression, human aggression, and just plain aggression. Having met Bon, I can't see Bon purposely harming a human over food or anything for that matter.

Anna, {{{{HUGS}}}} to both you and Bon - is Huney okay? Send her some hugs from me too. And for Roxey, who I'm sure was trying to be referee through all of this.

Anna, I'm so sorry that this has happened. It sure looks painful. I hope that you start feeling better soon and that the meds make you heal quickly. A few of my cats are also very food aggressive but they've never tried to bite me. I think that separating them during feeding time is good solution. Please take care. (((HUGS)))

I'm so sorry Anna. Stuart and I have both been bitten in the same situation--breaking up a fight. In the middle of a fight, a dog's brain has turned off. They are running on pure instinct and adreline. Bon probably had no clue that he was biting a human, especially his human. Breaking up a fight safely is very difficult. I have way more experience at it than I'd like and sometimes still do it all wrong! Sometimes the only way to stop a pack fight before someone gets killed is to wade into the middle and start flinging dogs off each other!

Anna I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened. My Nova is food agressive and I always, always have to seperate them to feed. It's just become a way of life for us and it's not a problem any more.

    Keep us updated,

Anna, I'm so sorry this happened, how frightening! I hope you're feeling better soon. Star has attacked Jasper over food several times, I stupidly let it happen more than once because it was easy to break up the first time, and the second time one of them got hurt.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

Oh my gosh Anna that's a nasty bite! I am so sorry that happened. It wasn't anyone's fault, and MOST CERTAINLY Bon does not need another home, to whoever sugested that. It was an accident, and he's never hurt anyone in that family. I know how shook up you must be, how horrifying to have that happen, but I know you still love Bon. I don't beleive he ever meant to hurt you, but thank you for showing us what can go horribly wrong when we put ourselves in the middle of things trying to break it up. I think most of us would probably do the same thing in the heat of the moment so it's good for us to pause and stop to think.

I so hope it heals up soon and doesn't cause you too much discomfort for a long time. Feeding them apart is the best thing to do to prevent that in the future, like you already did. SO sorry for the shock you all must have had and are still dealing with. Hugs to you all.

Thanks Jess for the great sig of my kids!

I too think that rehoming him is not necesarry.I have to seperate my guys every meal. Some cannot eat together it happens,No reason to go that far as too rehoming. It is unfortunate that Anna got hurt,I myself have gotten bit.

It is hard when you have 2 dogs that do not get along(Molly&Lacy) I have thought of rehoming Molly,But i was put in my place and im glad i could have done something foolish,And now i am a firm believer that a dog is your responsibilty until they pass on to a better place.

I would understand if Bon walked around and bit everyone in site,That is not the case,He is a lovable little man,I do not know him personally but the way Anna talks about him ,He is a lovable dog.

As the vet said to me "It was your fault you got bit" I startled them when infact i should of just let them go.

How is your leg Anna?Did they give you any pain medication to help with the pain?

Holy crap! I have never seen a dog bite quite like that one! Here I was wimpering over a cat bite... I'd be afraid to lose my leg with a bite like that one!

Poor you and poor Bon! He probably doesn't even realize that he hurt you that badly! Hope that the Vicodin kick in a little bit (the docs gave me Darvocet for the cat bite, that was a joke!), and that the antibiotics do their job! Rest up and make sure you take good care of that leg!

Bless your heart Anna! I cant begin to imagine how much that must hurt. I hate dog fights. I've had to deal with a couple bewteen Ebony and Jada. Glacier had given me some wonderful info on what to do if a dog fight should happen. I'm so thankful she did that because it has come in handy.

I know Bon didn't mean to hurt you, when a dog is fighting they are all about the fight, that is what they are focusing on at the time. I know how scary it can be. All of you will be in my thoughts. (((Hugs)))

Thank you Kay for the beautiful sig!

One more time and that is it.

I want to be perfectly clear that my concern is about Anna's welfare. Of course she loves her dog. I love my pets. Some dogs will bite like that, under many different circumstances. I, personally, would not want to have a dog around my home that could do that kind of damage to a human or to another pet. It's like owning a loaded gun. Some people can handle that. I could not. My opinion - doesn't make me right or wrong. She may find that Bon will never bite again. I hope that is true for her. I trust that is true for her. I support her in her decision.

That's it. You can read in to this what you like.

    Get well soon Anna.
