I'm not disgusted with someone who's large, I'm saddened by it. Regardless of the reason, whether it's internal or external or both, I find it sad because that person's life isn't normal on a daily basis and their lifespan is shortened. And, I'm not talking about someone who could stand to lose a few pounds. I think most people in here are talking about the folks who are morbidly obese. When you see a five year old who is three times the size of a normal child, it's sad. I'm more saddened when I see children who are really big and can't live a normal childhood, because it's not their fault. I'm not saying the parents are bad parents or that they don't love their child, but the parents of a toddler or a preteen have quite a bit to say about what their child eats and what their child does to stay physically active.
I don't watch a lot of tv or read a lot of newspapers or magazines. And, I hope when I have children, I can help them find better things to do with their time than that stuff. I'm all for educational dvds or whatever, but as soon as you start throwing commercials into it, it's usually not good.
Anyway, my thoughts are all over the place with this subject.
The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world. - Dr. Paul Farmer
