No, but one DOES get more publicity and media attention, when one's divorce is in the limelight, if one says they were abused.
No one will ever know the truth but those two people what went on behind closed doors.
But, it just seems strange ... as far as I can remember, I've never heard a single bad thing about Paul McCartney before this. Ever. Everything I've ever heard about him has been kind, generous and nice. He has just always seemed like a truly nice person to me. It seems almost impossible, in this age of media obsession with exposing a star's every move and word to the public, that some of this supposed horrible behavior would have surfaced about him before now, if it were true.
But, that's just a guess. Like I said, no one will ever know for sure but the two of them.
