I'm glad that you found a vet that you can trust. Hopefully the new food will help her and that she'll continue to eat it. More good vibes are being sent your way. Please continue to keep us updated about her.
Well, this is a new one for me.
I am an advocate of medicating pets for short terms. Sometimes cats need to relearn habits and relax and get over the old ones. Amitriptyline works wonders............ and is easly administered if compounded into a cream for the ear.
I should use it on my own ears some days, here at the office.
Good luck with the new food.
Right now Miley et al are eating Science Diet Hypoallergetic and it is $44.50 per 10 lb. bag! Miley was just given some new meds that are to help bring her natural flora in her intestines, back in to fighting shape. She will be on the med for a month. None of the other cats are taking the meds but they are eating the food and liking it!
Fingers crossed for your girls.

A good, trustworthy vet can sometimes make all the difference. I'm glad you've found one that will take the time to get to the root of the problem. I sure hope Nakita is feeling better soon. Hugs for you both, and little Phoenix too!!

I'm glad that you have a vet now who seems to be trying all the options before resorting to strong medication! I think that Nakita will still learn to enjoy having little Phoenix around. It might even help distract her from some of her own ailments! I hope the new food makes the difference in her tummy troubles!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to keep us in your thoughts!
I'm not anti-drug at all and totally agree. I just want to look at all options first and verify that we are using the right drug for the right problem. Currently, Nakita's vomiting could be allergy related or something totally different.Originally Posted by sasvermont
Our new vet also agreed, because she is so young and the drug dangers, that placing her on Phenobarbitol would be a last resort over other trials and medications.
Nakita's currently on Hill's z/d formula - which costs $22CDN for 4lbs. I'm *really* hoping she'll continue eating it AND it will solve her allergy.
