Today Daisy had mackeral in tomato sauce i mixed with oatmeal for breakfast after her 4 mile bike run. Then a granny smith apple cubed in the afternoon. Then, since she's been a good girl she had a can of tuna for din-din with another bike run to come this evening.
These meals were all done with the N.I.L.I.F. approach, which we'll be augmenting for another 3 & 1/2 weeks.
She's going through her asolescense and the N.I.L.I.F. is working beautifully. But she is stubborn with a strong personality and wants to be alpha. So we'll continue for a solid month.

You can't do enough NILIF! Why not continue infinitely, Zoey? I still do it with both of my dogs. Fozzie is also hitting his defiant stage... OMG I know what you're going through.

    Gonzo ~
    1 turkey leg
Snacks: Sardines & Chicken organ meal (2 livers, heart, lungs, & gizzard) & Apple (it helped his sardine breath =/)
    Supps: Kelp & multi-vitamin
    Dessert: Vanilla frozen yogurt

    Fozzie ~
    1/2 Lamb shank
    2 chicken wings
Snacks: Sardines & Chicken livers & Apple & Banana
    Supps: Kelp & multi-vitamin
    Dessert: Vanilla frozen yogurt

    bckrazy,
wow! i should eat as well as your dogs!
indefinite N.I.L.I.F. is a thought. It's probably just laziness on my part that I don't do it indefinitely.
I mean, if I have a month's goal, i feel i'm working toward something. But yeah, the hand feeding with lots of commands really keeps her knowing who's boss, as well as a kinder, gentler dog. (Oh, that mashed mackeral and oatmeal feels so *ahem* pleasant in my hands.)
And I never have to get mad. I just put the food away until later when she isn't cooperating. I guess I just need to teach her more commands to keep her from getting too bored by repeating the same ones over and over and over.

As a side note, Daisy's really doing well at standing up. And she loves to hold on to my hands sometimes for short periods of time, and walks along on 2 feet that way. I am certain that she will learn to walk on 2 feet.
