No one really knows!!! I think it was a contest to see if anyone could ever make Ed smile. No one ever did that I heard of. AND he was proud of his big shoes. Every show he mentioned them.

Yes, unless they shave regularly.Some frogs I see have no sense of personal Hygiene. (That dripping wet hair underneath their arm pits!!!!)
