Mama and baby are beautiful. Mama looks so contented laying there with her baby.

I use to help out at our shelter that was a kill shelter and I had to quit doing it, those cats would haunt me. I couldn't handle seeing such wonderful, healthy, sweet animals that only wanted to be loved, distroyed day after day..

Yeah, it really tears me up - probably why I bend the rules every once in awhile. Most of us do, and that is probably what keeps us sane. Last night I saw one of the guys leaving with what looked like an outbreak of tumors under his shirt. A few minutes later I realized the litter of 5 that had fallen just shy of the accepted weight requirement were missing. I'm expecting him to show up in a few weeks with a litter of 5 kittens 'found in his barn' or somesuch - all of whom will easily make the weight & health requirements.

Besides the cat and kitten, my own 'dumpster diving' has brought me Roland, the light of my life. He is missing an eye and has a chronic snort, which put him into the 'unadoptable' category. The world's loss is my gain, even on those mornings I wake up unable to walk because 10 pounds of Roland has just spent 8 hours curled up on the small of my back.

What a sweet little thing Roland is. I'm glad one of your cohorts was able to smuggle the babies out so they can be plumped up and deemed "adoptable". Rules ARE made to be broken, right???

Roland is gorgeous, so is the white mom and torti baby. I hope the baby will test neg next time.

I'm so glad that people like you are able to help. I wish I could but I think I would have been locked away already if I had to see that many animals put down weekly.

    Keep on "bending" the rules!
