Amy, stop by ALL of your local feed stores, you're bound to find pre-made raw. Talk to managers and check the back room, where the freezer items are sometimes kept. I recommend Farmore or Primal. They're available everywhere in the West, and not nearly as expensive as others (like Natures Variety). Farmore has Beef, Buffalo & Lamb (along with Chicken) if you're worried about it agreeing with Nebo's tummy.

Pre-made is definitely a safe & simple way to make the switch to raw, you can begin formulating a diet on your own and adding RMB's when you feel comfortable. RMB's are ideal, though, because of the process of chewing the meat, fat, and bone. Good luck! I'm sure Nebo would be over-joyed =0)

Thanks for the info. I have stopped at all the local feed stores that I know if (only 2) and they both sold really crappy dog food. Petco and Petsmart are the only places locally that sell decent dog food but they don't have raw. There are a couple of places in the SLC area that sell raw I'm going to look into. I emailed one of them and they sold Nature's Variety it was $23.00 for 6 lbs. They told me I'd have to feed 1-1/2 lbs per day for a dog Nebo's size. Is that really expensive or am I nuts? One package wouldn't even last me a week. That was the venison formula maybe the others aren't as bad. Would it be ok to feed just a half lb per day and dry dog food for the rest?

I looked into Farmore and it doesn't list Utah as a state it is sold in. I didn't see any locations where Primal is sold on their website. Doubtful any of those are sold here. :/ Does anyone know if the freeze dried raw diets are as good (nutrition wise at least) as the frozen ones? I think it'd be easier to order that online than the frozen if I decided to go that route.

In the meantime I have been giving Nebo a raw egg (with shell...he'll only eat it if I really chop it up though) in his dog food every other day. So far so good no diarrhea and he seems to really like it.

The dogs all had a quarter of a chicken this morning. Buck had a trout filet, beef heart, veal liver, beef brisket, and a pig ear for dinner.

The kitties had some chicken cut up into little pieces a few times today. They are loving the raw!
