movies you watched today

I watched Calendar Girls. What a wonderful movie about a wonderful thing! I'm thinking of ordering the new calendar for next year, as long as they are still making them.

I also watched Sweet and Low Down. I love Sean Penn, and, I adore this film. I may have mentioned in this thread already, but, I've watched it three times in the past two days. Not totally sitting down, watching, but, it's been on in my room while I pack. It's a fantastic movie.

Anybody seen The Libertine yet? How odd that I heard about that movie about a month or two ago, knew I had to see it, but, because it doesn't seem to be getting much publicity, I forgot about it. So, tonight...I'm watching Sweet and Low Down and decided to look the actress up. Her name's Samantha Morton. And, wouldn't you know? She's the actress in The Libertine! What a coincidence! Now, I **really** have to see that!

Kari, I wasn't able to see The Libertine because of a limited release, it wasn't shown at a cinema that I could get too. It had a limited release in the US too I believe.
I have finally got to see it though, on DVD. The US DVD release is July 4th.

It is not to everyone's taste that's for sure, given the darkness of the subject and being period costume and all, but I think it is an excellent film with superb acting from all concerned.

No, that's a great review! I love period pieces, and, I'm all over dark subjects. I'm fascinated by the movie, and, can't wait to see it. I can't believe I missed it, but, it probably didn't even get shown here in South Carolina. Dang it.

kari i Loved Calendar Girls, but then i love most british films, i believe Ladies in Lavendar is good too, have not seen it yet, must check out that film with Sean Penn in it, love him to bits.

Went and saw Shaggy Dog with Melissa for Mothers Day, a sweet, cutesy , funny family movie, i enjoyed it and i believe there was not one swear word in it, a nice refreshing change.

I loved Calendar Girls. I also like British films a lot. Haven't heard of Ladies in Lavendar, though...and, yeah, if you like Sean Penn, you must check out Sweet and Low Down, he's awesome in it.

I probably won't see The Shaggy Dog, but, I'm sure it's great. I loved the original. And, nah, you probably didn't hear any swear words, as it is a Disney movie as far as I know. Well, at least the original was.

Yes Shaggy Dog was A disney production, i never knew there was a first one , I would not call it a great movie, but just pleasant and funny,a nice change from all the violence and crap we see on a day to day basis,just nice for a change, i have always loved Disney stuff, still puts out nice wholesome family stuff for all to see.

Ah, you noticed my ticker. Yeah, there is a thread about me moving to Texas somewhere in general...and, another one in dog general introducing everyone to dudley and freckles, david's dogs. finn and i are moving back to texas on thursday to be with david and his two dogs.

but, back to movies! I love Disney movies so much! And, actually they do put out some movies that aren't necessarily void of swear words. Two movies that come to mind are Miracle, the one about the 1980 US Olympic hockey team, and, National Treasure, a movie with Nicholas Cage. But, Disney is definitely known for wholesome movies. You really should check out the original Shaggy Dog, it's a great movie. Did you ever see Old Yeller? The same kid that plays the older brother in that movie plays the son in Shaggy Do. Or maybe he was the dog, hahahaha, it's been awhile.

Got to warn you though, after reading a reference to bad language in another post, there is an awful lot of it in The Libertine, plus sexual reference. It would not truly portray the times the film was set in nor Lord Rochester himself if there were not.

Oh, no worries. I'm not offended easily. I like dark movies, and, "taboo" subjects. Thanks for the warning, though!
