[QUOTE=Giselle]Not at all! I would say that dogs are twice as hard to take care of than an amazon. Amazons, just like all other exotic parrots, need mental and physical stimulation to keep them healthy and happy. Unlike dogs, however, their natural form of exercise would be the act of flying. However, humans have taken away the parrot's need to fly for its food (and, oftentimes, the flight feathers themselves), so many domestic birds occupy themselves with chew toys and happy huts and similar toys. If you can provide a few hours of active physical interaction, your bird will be more than contentIt's like owning a puppy that never needs walking, LOL.

). Just like dogs, birds thrive on a diet filled with fresh, wholesome foods, too. They NEED fresh fruits and veggies, but doesn't every animal? =P I'm not sure about Amazons, but 'Toos and 'Tiels love freshly plucked twigs, which provide them with hours of self-entertainment. The only thing that may be a bit difficult to cater to is their diet. Some species require specific types of nuts and fruits (macaws need a high-fatty diet so brazilian nuts and macadamia nuts are popular add-ins), but Amazons are relatively easy to take care of.
