Political correctness OVERKILL!!! How about just replacing the "Happy Easter" sign with a "Happy Spring" sign and leave the decorations??? Takes the religion right out of it and offends no one.But City Council member Dave Thune said removing the decorations went too far -- and he wonders why they can't celebrate spring with "bunnies and fake grass."

Mollie Rose, you were there for me through good times and in bad, from the beginning.Your passing will leave a hole in my heart. We will be together "One Fine Day".1994-2009
MooShoo, you left me too soon.I wasn't ready.Know that you were my soulmate and have left me broken hearted.I loved you like no other. 1999 - 2010See you again "ONE FINE DAY"
Maya Linn, my heart is broken. The day your beautiful blue eyes went blind was the worst day of my life.I only wish I could've done something.I'll miss your "premium" purr and our little "conversations". 1997-2013 See you again "ONE FINE DAY"
DO NOT BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE!!
Rabbits and colored eggs are not religious symbols. No religion that
I've ever heard of. It's a celebration of new life. A renewal of all living
things.

I don't really see why that's offensive, I know plenty of non-Christians who still celebrate Easter Sunday, maybe not religiously but certainly in the form of having a good time and eating easter eggs! That is going too far in trying to be politically correct.
The bunnies wern't offensive to me, but their removal was!!
I'm anti religious (my choice & I have no issus with other people beliefs & will partake in their activities if invited).
I see easter, xmas, ect. as days to get to gether to have fun with the family & its something to look forward too.
Don't people have other things to worry about other than someone putting a Happy Easter sign out? Ridiculous! It just goes to show how far this country has sunk spiritually and morally.![]()
Exactly. Rabbits, eggs, and other symbols of fertility are Easter symbols that pre-date Christianty from when Easter was still as celebration of the goddess.Originally Posted by lizbud

Actually, they are. They originated as pagan fertility symbols. Other symbols co-opted by Chrisitians are oxen, eagles, snakes, lions, deer, sheep, pelicans, salmon, and...mousetraps! (bet you didn't know that one!) should we ban mousetraps?Originally Posted by lizbud

There are so many symbols used by so many religions for so many different reasons, it seems quite pointless to ban them. Perhaps we need to ban Political correctness, or at least rein it in a little!
I have a story on my Pagan calendar about where the legend of the Easter Bunny came from if anyone is interested.![]()
