    Dusty chewed his legs because he had allergies and was itchy.

    Adele chews on her paws too. She doesn't have any allergies and I keep her nails fairly short, I think it is more of a comfort to her.

    She usually (lightly, thank goodness! I don't want her hurting herself) licks/chews on her paws when she is settled on the couch for the evening and comfortable.

    I was going to mention allergies too as a possibility. I had a silver mini poodle several years ago who occasionally chewed on a spot on her leg. She actually caused her hair to grow in darker in that particular spot. The vet said she probably did it out of boredom.

    Allergies are fairly common in Cockers, so maybe that's the case. I will mention it to the vet when Sam goes to his next appointment.
