Yes, this happened to my sister once. There was a very small tortie hanging around her house once. Julia is very good at taming ferals and strays and with the help of one of her cats (yep, Mudpie helped!), she tamed the little girl.

Because of the time of year and everything, she suspected that the little kitty (her name is now Muffin) might be pregnant but if she was, it wouldn't have been that far along. Julia decided to have the kitty spayed anyway as the kitty was so small, having a litter may have endangered her health. Muffin was less than a year old and very tiny for a cat.

Today, Muffin is a healthy tortie girl who has never meet another cat she didn't like. She's friendly with stranger cats the first time she sees them. She's still very tiny and has no chance of adding to the pet population. She's a special girl and a sweet girl.
