Would you consider your pet overweight?

Kai's overweight. I've been working on it for a long time now but it's sooo hard with him. He's afraid of pretty much everything.. it makes walking impossible. Heck, he gets spooked just staying in the backyard some times. It's my fault though. I didn't socialize him enough as a pup.. and now I can't walk him around most places. I tried feeding less but my family doesn't seem to understand that I'm feeding him less for a reason. They constantly give him extra food when I'm not looking.

As for Kaedyn, he could stand to lose a few pounds but he's not at all obese. If I ever get him into flyball or agility, I'd want him to lose a few pounds more on top of that.. just to be easier on his joints.

I bought some weight control food just recently, for this reason. Sam is definately overweight, he could stand to loose about 15-20lbs, honestly. His ideal weight is a little less than 90 lbs, and he weighs just over 105. However, he just turned 8 years old...he has slowed down quite a bit, and has never been very active anyways. Both of us, however, are getting out about 4-5 times a week and walking/running. I'm not in shape, and neither is he, so we're taking it slow.

Casey isn't really overweight, but she will be 7 in June, so the weight loss formula will benefit her. I don't think she would loose more than 3-4 lbs on it, and she might look a little better. Boomer could loose about 5 lbs and look gorgeous, he's very active, but he has a little pudge going.

I'm not totally against fat pets. However, I've seen a cocker spaniel that weighed 65 lbs, and a Miniature Poodle that weighed close to 50lbs, not because of medical reasons, but because they were overfed. The miniature poodle was not on any kind of dog food, he got whatever the family was eating for dinner.

But I think some pets are just happy being fat. If it gets to a point where it is dangerous to their health, then some action needs to be taken. However I would never go around and lecture every owner that had an overweight pet, or not let them in my house, that's kind of ridiculous.
