Kia gets dry itchy skin in the winter just like some people. I treat it with Benedryl (one capsule in the morning, one in the evening) The general rule with Benedryl is one pill for every 25 lbs. of dog. Do not exceed 4 pills a day.
I also apply Animax ointment that I get from the vet onto her hot spots.
She eats California Natural Lamb and Rice meal.

It sounds like ringworm, not an allergy at all. A topical anti-fungal cream would help treat it.
I'd get a second opinion for another vet.
Good luck! Please keep us up-dated.

That does sound a little strange but not all that uncommon. Raustuk had some allergies to a food years ago that would come out like pimples, not scabby or anything but they were like pimples.
Did they aspirate the pimple or cyst or whatever it is? Did they run a smear on what they found inside of it?
Have you had any allergy tests done on him yet?
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.
My pill book says the dose for Benadryl is 1-2mg per pound your dog weighs. (so if your dog weighs 10 lbs. give her 10-20 mg. of Benadryl)Originally Posted by ramanth
I don't think it's an allergy though. If it's not an allergy then Benedryl won't work for her.
Only if it's a food allergy, which it doesn't sound like it is.Originally Posted by .sarah
The food you feed her will affect her coat though. What do you feed her? What color poodle is she? White dogs seem to have more skin problems and allergies.
