Thanks for the information. He checked her for fleas, and she does NOT have any of them, THANK GOD! He also took some hair samples from right where several of the lesions are, so hopefully we'll find a cause. She has to go back in three weeks. We HAVE found some hairballs around the house sometimes, and I started all three kitties on a hairball Science Diet food, in addition to the kitten's Science Diet kitten food.
She doesn't have any patches of hair loss at this point, either, so maybe we caught it fairly early. I'm somewhat upset that the Vet. who checked her in September didn't look into it any further then, though!

This could be an allergy to some food! My neighbour's dog had this too, he got almost bald.... Then they discovered he got it from eating fresh meat! They stopped giving him that, and all problems were over

I'm sorry I didn't see this post before. I almost hate to say this because it has been a constant problem for our Butter for almost 3 years now, although the first two years he was with me, he didn't have a single problem. This is exactly what was diagnosed. Hopefully your situation won't be as bad as ours. We have seen two vets, over and over, one a cat specialist, and both had the same diagnosis, and that some cats just get this and it can't be cured. The cortisone shot will last usually about 4-6 weeks, then we're back for another one. Butter creates horrible, bloody sores all over his legs and belly, and sometimes even tears up his own face because he itches so badly.
We were just back for a shot at the Cat Clinic on Friday and she did make some suggestions of things I could try when it first starts flaring up to see if we can slow it down a bit. I'll look for that information and let you know what she said. She gave me options that included any of of 1) Prednisone, 2)Chlortrimetron (an antihistimine) and 3) Benadryl, but I need to tell you exactly how much she told me to use.
I am so sorry. I hope that you won't have as much trouble as we have had.
Logan
Thanks for the info. They're clearing up quite a bit since the cortisone shot. She has another appointment in about 2 more weeks for a recheck. Her mood has been better. It wasn't bad before, but she was just really, really quiet. She hasn't really been her "old self" since we first brought Shadow home in April. But she's been a little more playful the last few days than she had been for quite awhile---since before Shadow & Annie.
