Update:
Last night my dad couldn't sleep so at 3 he came into the kitchen and let Major inside. My mom was there too and they were there for about an hour, and then my dad went to his friend's house to see if there was a vet there (he thought maybe - they had hunters there) but no luck. My dad couldn't eat breakfast either - he felt extremely guilty because he had left the poison on the bench at the farm.
I woke up around 6:30 and then Major was still inside, and he didn't move once until I picked him up at 7:30 to carry him into the truck. We drove to the vet and got there when it opened, around 8. He got a bit excited when we drove up, and he was quite a bit more excited when we got inside. That was
good) - nice to see him DOING something and acting a bit more normal,
but also
bad) - the vets saw him being a bit energetic, not how he was before - maybe making them not quite as concerned
Anyway. So we weighed him and he weighed 50.2 pounds, whereas when we took him in on the 15th he weighed 54.8.
So then they examined him and his anal glands were full, which she emptied.
Then they said that he was really dehydrated, and his stomach was empty, he also has two (forming) hot spots on either side of his rectum.
Then my mom dropped me off at school, and when I got home, I was not surprised to NOT see him in the yard. I was sure they'd kept him there.
But when I asked my mom how he was at lunch (when she checked on him), she said he was in his doghouse.
He hasn't gotten out of his dog house since around 1, and its 8. He's just sitting in there, he can't lie down well because he has an elizabethian collar on. He won't come out.
We have to give him Vitamin K twice a day for two weeks, and we have some ointment stuff to put on his forming hot spots.
He's still not eating, not drinking a lot. The vet was GOING to put him IV fluids I guess, but then he drank SOME water (a cup or two) and so she "felt satisfied" and my mom and I are still concerned. We are trying to get him to drink but he's not really...I offered him some water with soup base in it and he just had a little.
He didn't even come out of his house when Hucky (neighbor dog) came over. Its very depressing seeing him SITTING in there with the collar on, because he's so miserable and he can't sleep I guess. Any ideas on how to coax him out? He won't come for food or toys, not even another dog.![]()
