Looks like Wyrick is getting a new service dog. I have been trying to keep up to date on Shuma's story and as of now, a lady who have heard Wrick's story in trying to get Shuma back, has given hime a pup named Duke. Wyrick willingly took in Duke and is going to train him to be a service dog. He still misses Shuma and wants her back and feels that he will have a hole in his heart for her but he surely appreciates having Duke and will train him to be a good service dog. Professional trainers are even going to help train Duke for no charge. It's a great feeling but to me, this story hasn't been resolved yet-Shuma's still not home! Wyrick still misses Shuma so that goes to show he still wants her back but as I have observed, he is a caring and compassionate man who would rather be a lover than a fighter. I can't express in words how I feel about the Nevills B***h. She ought to be ashamed of herself. When I read the headlines that the dog story had been resolved, I breathed a sigh of relief knowing Shuma went back home. But as I read the story, I become even more angry-yes, glad Duke is going to become the service dog but furious this has to end up this way because of the selfish, selfless, pig headed ways of this so called "animal volunteer who just loves animals". It makes me sick. I hope this story still continues b/c it is apparent that this man still aches for Shuma-what a kind man he is for taking in Duke but I still wishes he won't give up on Shuma. We know he is the bigger person in this story. What will Nevills do with Shuma? Care for him-send him off to be adopted? What a cruel, cold-hearted woman. She ought to feel horrible for what she has done and made this man go through and especially how the story ended up-I hope she is charged for stealing, lying, everything she can be charged for. I'd be ashamed to be her wife, her kids, etc.

This is so horrible and it breaks my heart. All the man wants is his dog back. He is obviously a very caring dog owner. That lady was nice enough to take him in when he NEEDED her to do just that, take her in. Now if she is truly a dog rescuer, she should want to reunite this dog with her loving owner.

I copied this from a forum discussing this Shuma case, and I thought this person made some good points. I found the forum by clicking the first link that was posted in this thread.

    1. Shuma is not belonging to the care-taker. It is the same as a baby-sitter refusing to give back a child.

    2. If she had found the dog lost, the right thing to do would be giving Shuma back- no matter how much the children love Shuma.

    3. Shuma is NOT a pet. Shuma is a service dog; therefore, money, time, and effort was spent in training.

Come on, lady, give the man his dog back. Shuma is not yours and you were only to be a short-term caretaker.

This is kind of off topic but when I saw that dog, I was amazed at how much she looked like my dog from long ago.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

My heart breaks for the Wyrick family. They have been through SO much... and I can't even comprehend how this Nevills woman (hmmm... make that this Nevills "thing") could be SO cold hearted to this family! It scares me to even think that she has children, and showing them her very *sick* way of *helping* out her fellow man!

I wish her *MANY* sleepless nights, freezing, from that *COLD* heart she has! There are not enough blankets in the whole world, to warm the big chill out of this *COLD* hearted woman!

What a B*****! You can't takew a dog away from anyone. I am sure Shuma is very unhappy to. That family should get thier own dog if they want to become attached. Idiots!
