Yes, Grisouille and Choupi are quite a pair! Grisouille is 4 yrs and a half, and was rescued from a parking lot during a cold autumn evening in the North of Montreal, and lived for a year in a foster home sponsored by a local refuge, Réseau Secours Animal (http://www.reseausecoursanimal.org/). We went to an adoption clinic in a pet shop, and there she was. She was a companion to Poupette for 3 years and a half; Poupette lost her battle to cancer last April 4th, and I still miss her a lot, she was so affectionate (I still can't look at her picture for more than 2 seconds). Grisouille felt very lonesome after Poupette left and she cried each evening for long minutes.
So we went to another adoption clinic the next week, and although there was not a young cat, the woman in charge told us that there was a young European tortie at the vet being sterilized before going to the refuge, so we could meet her at the vet office. So we went and there was Choupi, meowing for attention, and we came home with her. Choupi was kept in a shed for 2 weeks with his brother, because the family that owned her believed that a dog and children were too much care. Choupi is nearly 11 months old now and so lively that Grisouille finds her too lively when she jumps on her and try to tickle her chin. But she licks her face too, then all is fine.
Before Grisouille, Poupette and Choupi, we've had Gougoune and Bibine who lived 16 and 18 years. We waited a couple of years to see how we would do without cats, but there was a big emptiness. Of course when we lose one, there is a lot of tears and sadness, but the years and joy spent with those faithful and affectionate companions become unforgettable memories.
I've always been attracted to pets: fishes, rabbits, mice, dogs (chihuahuas in my childhood), but cats are my best pals.
I posted a few messages in Pet Talk these last couple of years, mainly when I had some difficulties or problems with my kitties, but it is the first time I use this forum for the pleasure only. I always enjoy looking at cat pictures!
Thank you all for your kind words! I am always astonished at the many origins of the users! And it reminds me of nice travel memories: I visited some of the places or countries, Louisiana (New Orleans, Morgan City, etc.), Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Belgium, Paris, not Australia or NZ yet) where some of you are from.
And Maya & Inka's mommy, votre site web est renversant, quelles belles photos!
