Remember to socialise him very well --- Doxies can be intolerant of children and become nippers if they aren't socialised properly. Most of the doxies I've met have been very timid or aggressive because of bad breeding and ownership. Remember that they are hounds, and hounds are stubborn as heck and will generally run away and not come back to you when they are in an open area. Doxies are fairly easy to catch, but you still have to keep a close eye because one might run into traffic. Hounds also usually have a high prey drive, so you have to socialise the dog with small animals or keep him away from them altogether. Also watch out for holes in the ground. A doxie might be inclined to go inside of it and might get stuck. And if you are getting one from a breeder, you have to get one from a reputable breeder or you may have problems up to your ears. Doxies are very prone to several health problems. That's all I can think of now.![]()
