This breed of dog is good for apartment life and usually lives to about 12 years old. They are very clean, with no doggie odour and are not prone to fleas or ticks. They come in two different coat types. The breed was first exhibited in the West in the late 1800’s, but the first American breed club was not established until the late 1900’s. Full AKC recognition was also granted in late 1900’s.

This dog is a light wieght bird dog. It's also a great swimmer. Although most people think of it as simply a "show dog" and don't recognize it's natural bird/retriever abilities. It comes is several solid colors.
