Thanks to everyone who responded. I had tears in my eyes when I read your replies. Everyone is so thoughtful and kind. My boy "Alex" seems to be doing much better, as I am. He will have his annual visit to the vet soon and I will have his teeth checked out. I have noted that if I don't give him the canned food he will eat his dry food, so I think he's just pretty smart and knows how to get what he wants!!

I miss my Sam and have her ashes at home with me. I still say "good night, mom loves you" each night when I go to bed.
