It sounds to me that the cat may be disoriented or its "owner" knows little about caring for cats. The cat may be "messy" because of the dog being around! And I'm sure that these two are not reconciled. It also sounds as though the girl is not cat-friendly, but actually prefers her dog over her boyfriend in the fianal analysis. Shame on Ann Landers! I think that the two of them should have come to Pet Talk for better adice.
