Great post John! I remember so well many of the gaffs on the list, especially the rape question posed to Dukakis and sigh.......Al Gore's incessant sighning! The news just aired a compliation of Pres. debate gaffs, including a 30 second segment (or longer) of the infamous sighings! The Bentsen retort to Quayle is a classic! And though not a gaff, Regan's reply to a moderator's concerns re: his age they say, turned the tide! And I think more than the one person was taking a peek at his watch during that Bush/Clinton debate! American politics, gotta love it! lol!
