I think Valentine's Day would be so much nicer if it was looked at as a celebration of love, not focusing on lovers or couples, but love overall, between family, friends, children, pets, and so on.
That is how we celebrate Valentines Day. This year we are having Dylan "sign" Valentines cards for family and friends. I enjoy the time spent with family better than as a couple. Of course Dan and I will do something together, maybe cards of something dumb like that, but we are also spending the day going to his sisters basketball game. She is on the Cougar's basketball team and they will be playing the Duck's in Corvallis. So instead of celebrating all alone, the family will be celebrating Stephanie's game instead.

I also send things to my family. This year I am having a bouquet of flowers sent to my mother in California. I order them online, and since I can't be there in person, I will have them delivered to her door. I also bought my sister a really cute teddy bear with Hershey's kisses and the bear is wearing a leopard print dress. My sis LOVES leopard print!

I will be making something for Dan with Dylan, maybe give him a cute photo of the two of us or something like that. So it's not all about couples, it's more just about love, and the meaning of celebrating what you have.

Love is great! You just need to find it, and the right kind! Being in love is one of the most beautiful feelings you ever get to experience, and when you do, gosh, it's just undescribable. I too used to be single all the Valentines Days, but who cares? Celebrate your singleness! Because one day, you won't be single anymore. You have your freedom now, enjoy it!
