What is meant by a "Ghost of a Chance?"
The phrase was originally "Ghost of Chance". Chance was the turtle who raced with the Hare in the famous fairy tale: the Tortoise and the Hare.
After winning that famous race, Chance went on tour. Sadly, he was squashed by a tour bus when he didn't look before he crossed a busy highway. When someone was clumsey, people would say they had the Ghost of Chance - meaning to watch where they were going or they may be squashed by a tour bus too.
