My vet doesn't do the surgery, she just refers you to a specialist. She did the blood test to make sure that diabetes is not present, as that would tend to make them not do the surgery. Other than that, she has seen good results, but doesn't know too much about it. She did mention that they can either remove the lens, OR remove and implant a new lens. Either way, the dog sees better than before the surgery. AND she said if both eyes have cataracts, they do both eyes together, not one first then the other.

I have to get all the info from the specialist, AFTER that person does an exam to check for things like glaucoma, pressure, depth/ thickness of cataract, and so on. That is why I wanted to hear from people to see if they found the dog does see better. What expense, what meds before and after, is it a hospital stay, etc. Because the way the medical works, you have already invested time and money before you make a decision and that really makes me feel like I should continue the process. I hate that feeling.
