Skin problems can be caused by dozens of different things like skin infections, fleas, mites, allergies etc. Only a vet seeing chester would be able to tell you what those scabs are from. I wouldn't wait too long to get him in, if it's a skin infection those can spread and cause more problems and some are even contagious to people. Take Chester to your vet. Good luck
