Keegan's alllllll golden girl.
I was away for the weekend so that's why I'm answering just now.
Well, at 7-8 he should be way past the puppy stage and be a great companion. If he is cat safe I could forsee him staying with you!My vet told me that while goldens pretty much love everyone they usually hone in on one person and consider that person their person and are very bonded with them. That pretty much sums Keegan up. She loves people - she prefers people to dogs but take me away and she gets worried. At the dog park, if I go out of the fence she usually sits by the fence until I come back altho she is getting better. If I leave her at my parents house for even an afternoon when I come home its like I've been gone for a month -course I guess that's the way for most dogs.
I think it'd be great to add him to your home even if it is just temporary to get him out of the situation he is in. Goldens usually love kids too - Keegan loves my nephews I just have to keep an eye on her b/c they get rambunctious and with 2 bad hips she can't keep up even tho she thinks she can. Keegan loves "her" cats. She always whines when she sees other ones out in the yard - her and my younger cat are very bonded.
