Tapes for my car. They're only 49 cents at Goodwill and I will regularly walk away with six to ten of them, yet I seem to stick to the same five or so.

Actually, if Sas ever ran out of things to knit, good mittens are always, always appreciated at homeless shelters and food pantries - but I bet she knows that! We have a mitten tree at the back of the church each fall, and I remember childhood well enough to know what a delight a good warm pair of mitten is on a chilly day! Sadly, I do not knit, and have not the patience for it!

    Books and tools.

I won't rent a tool unless I KNOW I'm only going to use it once, and books, well.....I spend a lot of time waiting for machinery to break, so I have plenty of reading time.

Although I don't buy much anymore - I have always loved dishes - linens - towels - kitchen items - table cloths and napkins - placemats.

At some point you stop - and realize that you have way too much stuff. Besides I have a lot of linens that I inherited from my family - good linen that needs to be ironed. Ha - haven't used that lately!

At least you have cats to keep the mice at bay. Many of the linens Aunt Bertha had stored away for future use got nested in by mice, sadly.

Candles. I buy them because they smell good, but then I wait to burn them because ... they smell too good. And just about anything with a kitty theme! (kitty mug, kitty pin, kitty dish towel, kitty picture frame...)

Definitely hair accessories! Over the years I collected a whole drawer full. While I started packing for college a couple days ago, I found it really unneccessary to bring them all. Therefore, I had a hard time deciding which ones to bring.

Cat figurines.. and other cat-themed items.

I have way too many figurines ..

Sallyanne, I wish you were closer, you probably know how to crochet as well. I have these potholders? that you begin in one corner. I just don't don't know how to start.[/QUOTE]

Randi - you could always pick up a small instruction book and teach yourself how to knit and/or crochet. That's how I learned. My mother tried to teach me as a teen, but I was not the least bit interested. Then after I married and wasn't working, and hubby was in the military with weird working hours, I had a lot of time on my hands and decided to learn how. I started with very simple stitches and projects, and progressed from there. Afghans and blankets turned out to be a passion with me, and I made dozens over the years before my hands failed me. People that I worked with even commissioned me to make items for them, and I've also had a few people want me to teach them how. Two of the people were left handed so I couldn't help them any - but there are even instruction books for leftys too. I even figured out the dreaded singular circular knitting needle!
You should look into it - I always found knitting and crocheting to be very relaxing and enjoyable.

Gini, speaking of linens and towels, that is what I always look for when I go to department stores. I like quality, like Egyptian cotton, so I normally buy those when there's a sale. I missed it this year. I inherited quite a few good tablecloths, but only two fits my dinner table. Anyway, what I need is tablecloths for my bedside table.

Pomtzu, it's not that I can't knit or crochet, I have knitted several sweaters and socks etc. over the years, it's just this one thing I can't do.

LOL - well obviously you do know how if you can do sweaters! They ranked very low on my list of favorites to make, tho I did do vests and also baby sweaters.

My biggest weakness at the moment is socks lol. I went cold turkey with the dog collars and they only have one each now, and will wear them til they wear out.
