Hoping its just the meds making him feel yucky. Gentle hugs.

Thank you, Kirsten and Gayle. This afternoon and evening Sydney has seemed about the same, more alert and interested in food, after I'd spent a while on-line.

I didn't know if he was still dribbling diarrhea, but I couldn't see any "newer" looking blobs of it. Finally I decided to take a chance and let him out again into the living room. I kept the bedroom door closed, though.. If he were to crawl back under the bed and then dribble, I would NOT want to have to contend with first trying to get him back out and then, I don't even have any idea how I would be able to clean up any globs under the bed! The room is too small to move the bed any distance.

There was diarrhea all over the bathroom floor, the sides of the litter box, on the bathmat and his bedding, on the floor of the bathtub, and all over another litter box in the tub (litter disposed of and box waiting for me to have a chance to clean it up). I decided to tidy this up some for him.

I took the soiled bedding outside, shook it all out to dislodge bits of litter and anything else that might fall off, then put it all in a bag to take to the laundromat.

I swept up the loose debris and got up larger globs from the floor. I didn't see much point in washing the floor yet if he might just come back in and do it all over again. I wanted him to have a clean surface to get around on, though, so I put newspaper down on the floor all over the dried diarrhea smears.

I ran a lot of water into the bathtub with the two dirty litter boxes in it. Then I poured a LOT of bleach in with the water and let that soak for a while. I cleaned out the bathtub and litter boxes thoroughly.

Then I put in a clean litter box with clean litter in it and gave him a clean bathmat and clean bedding.

Meanwhile, he has been spending his time in the cat condo in the living room. There is a donut bed on the floor of his little "room" in the condo, and it's okay if he dribbles on that, easy to add to the dirty laundry.

He just now came right over here to the litter box next to the table the computer is on. He got in and stood to poop.. strained and nothing came out. So that's still going on. No diarrhea, at least. But I guess he will be spending the night in the bathroom again.

Dr. Bill called about 5:30pm and I just missed him. He left a message saying the poop specimen was negative and asked me to call him tomorrow morning and we'll discuss where to go from here.

So Sydney seems to be doing a little better with the poop problem, and I guess is still improving on the infection. pleasepleaseplease!!!!!

Thank you again, everyone, for all your prayers and kind thoughts and good wishes. I'll keep you posted on how my Sydney is doing.

Love from Sydney and Pat and the gang

Aww, thank you so much, Carole and Pinot's Mom and Jenn and Helene, for all your good wishes and prayers and thoughts for Sydney to get better. He doesn't seem to be having diarrhea any more. I did find a couple of small solid poops on the floor outside his litter box in the bathroom this morning. He hasn't done any more since then, so I still don't know if he's having any trouble getting it out.

He also has quite a good appetite back now. He kept wanting more and more of the wet KD With Chicken!

I also gave him some Bench & Field Holistic Natural Feline Treats from Trader Joe's. He sure likes those! The label says they are Omega 6:30 Enriched with Menhaden Oil. I don't know if that's anything like Omega 3. I tried a few times squeezing some of the contents of Fish Oil capsules with Omega 3 onto his wet food, but he didn't seem to like the smell of it or what it did to the taste of the food.

I wasn't able to talk with Dr. Bill today. I will try him again tomorrow. If we don't connect, I'll be bringing Bob to see him on Thursday. Bob is due for some blood work to see how HE's doing (here's hoping there are no unpleasant surprises here.. yikes!...), and we can figure out where we're going with Sydney too.

    Thanks again!

Love from Sydney and Pat and family

Sounds good to me... What a relief to read that the diarrhea has stopped, and that he ate with a good appetite!

Thank you, Kirsten and Helene. Sydney continues to do well! He has the run of the apartment now.. no more diarrhea. I think the ear infection is still getting better too. (I thought that might have been postponed while his body was fighting the new trouble.. It should be back to fighting that now, anyway.)

And his appetite.. WOW! He's eating like a horse! (That's an old expression, but I wonder.. do horses really eat a lot and keep wanting more?)

I finally talked with Dr. Bill today. He was glad to hear all the good news. He said to keep him on the reduced Pred dose, and in another week or so we'll consider reducing it further.

Tomorrow Bob and I will be seeing Dr. Bill, so we'll touch base there too.

Thanks again, everyone! I'm sure all of your prayers and kind thoughts and healing wishes and energies have been helping!

I'm glad to hear that he's doing better. The pred will make him very hungry. My Storm's on 2.5mg daily and he's eating very well and sometimes he just can't get enough food. I hope he'll continue to do well and good luck with your vet visit with Bob.
