I am A+. I used to donate a couple of times a year, and always felt faint after it. I had to lie there for about 20 minutes afterwards taking up the space. After a few years they politely told me that I might want to think about whether I wanted to come back or not. I think they were always frightened I would leave their premises and collapse in the street. I also don't think they tend to be short of A+.

They did say that my blood came out quite quickly and that could be causing the light-headedness, but I think it was probably it was just my needle phobia.

    I am O positive. I believe it's a universal donor too, but I can't give blood
as I had hepatitus (infectious) as a child.

I used to pass out cold every time I had blood drawn for tests, but do much
better nowadays. I just don't watch the procedure.

I have no idea, I am terrified of needles so I have never given blood and never intend too lol. I have never even had a blood test, docters tried when I was baving carpel pedal spasms, but even mention of it caused the spasms to start again.

I'm O- and a "universal donor", howerver, I'm deathly afraid of needles of any sort. I'm afraid I've never donated blood and I don't know if I'll ever have enough bravery to do so (unless someone I know and love is in trouble and needing blood).

I know I have a child and I'm pregnant with another, but I'm still deathly afraid of needles. I get myself so worked up over any blood work I need to have done that my blood pressure is sky high and I'm very faint feeling every time I have even so much as a finger prick. I know it's silly but most everyone has some kind of fear. I'm not afraid of much, but I'm so scared of needles. I'm even afraid of fish hooks because they can pierce skin like a needle. I can't look at a hypodermic needle on TV or in a book without getting freaked out. I really respect all you folks who can/have donated blood, especially those of you who are just young'ins. Good for you all!

I'm not sure of my blood group entirely, I think I'm in group B, but I do know I'm Rh positive. I could never give blood though because my blood pressure is so low I can go into shock if I lose too much blood.

I'm an O+ and have been donating for almost 30 years, between 2 and 4 times a year on average. They like me because I have the Alaska Pipeline running inside my right elbow!

I'm O + too. I can't donate because I have anemia too. When I went through menopause I had to have a blood transfusion. (some women get hot flashes. I bout bled to death)

I am so grateful to who ever donated the two units I got!!! I wouldn't be here today without them.
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!

    I'm O+ and Bobcat is O-

Bobcat used to get calls all the time from the blood bank because (I guess) O- is in short supply. But, since he was diagnose (and cured) of cancer, he can't donate anymore.

    From the American Red Cross:

Almost 40% of the population has O+ blood

Patients with Type O blood must receive Type O blood

About half of all blood ordered by hospitals in our area is Type O

Type O blood is the universal blood type and is the only blood type that can be transfused to patients with other blood types

Only about 7% of all people have Type O negative blood

Type O negative blood is the preferred type for accident victims and babies needing exchange transfusions

There is always a need for Type O donors because their blood may be transfused to a person of any blood type in an emergency

My brother n law has to donate about every two months, because he has too much iron in his blood, a condition which can be very serious.

I'm A+ I could never give blood because I'm terrified of needles, especially the ones that go in veins. The thought of that creeps me out.

I'm A- and I haven't donated in quite a few years although I used to. In college I would sell my blood when I needed some money. *Back in the day* $20.00 would go a long way.
