OK, I have some questions after examining these pics more closely.

    1. Is she now residing right beside the hole where her Daddy was? Somehow I thought she was in a separate pot.

    2. Was she purposely planted by you or your tree people?? Or did Daddy decide to leave his legacy and is this the surprise you referred to in the Thank God thread?

    Curious minds want to know.

Before I was told there was no hope for the papa tree - baby Maple showed up.
She was growing right along side papa. If she had been born from papa's root, she wouldn't have been a viable tree.

When the tree people came to remove papa - I had them carefully dig up baby Maple and it was determined that she was born from a seed. I had them transplant her to a pot with special soil. She now lives in that pot on the deck.

It is difficult to tell if she will make it - but she does have new shoots.

I like to think that it is a gift from the papa tree because I loved it so much - and touched it and told it so often.

    I know, I know - call me a sap!

Gini - here is a link I found:

    http://www.maple-tree.com/

On that page, there's a menu on the left at the top of the article, and you can click on 'types of maples'.

Calling the tree people might help too!

    Catty1 thanks for the link.

Her papa was a Norwegian maple. When I first moved to this home I made it a point to find out what kind of tree papa was.

    Oh, the pressure!!

Baby Maple is coming along and some of her new leaves are much larger than before. However, she is losing some of her lower leaves. I will take more pictures of her in her new home - but it might be a bit before I can get to it.

She is being lovingly cared for - you can be sure.

Isn't it wonderful that baby Maple is growing! I know that with your tender love and care, she'll survive! A place on the deck sounds just right!

Losing lower leaves is good - it means she is growing more new leaves up top and developing a TRUNK!

Hmm...where would one get a training bra for a small maple?...hmmm
