    Exerpt:
The sheriff’s investigation showed Bandit was in Lovejoy’s patrol car from about 9 a.m. to shortly after 10 p.m. Aug. 11. During that time, the investigation found, the officer ran errands, napped and ate out with his wife. Lovejoy later found the dog dead in the car.

Thank goodness they fired the idiot. I don't think he should even be allowed a law enforcement career ever again.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

The following is a written statement released by Police Chief Sherry Kiyler:

“The Chandler Police Department was informed today that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has completed its criminal investigation regarding Sgt. Tom Lovejoy and the death of K9 Bandit and that misdemeanor charges have been filed. As a Department, we respect and support the criminal justice systems and processes in place. We remain saddened by the loss of K9 Bandit. At this time our internal investigation is continuing and further comment by our department would be inappropriate until the completion of this process.”

That's ridiculous. He's going to get a slap on the wrist.

Now if anyone else were to kill the dog they would be arrested for killing an officer.
