What breeds are easiest to train, and are really good in Agility?

If you're looking for a obedience and agility dog, then of the three choices, probably German Shepherd would come in first.

I personally like Rottweilers better, but they are not the fastest when it comes to agility. They are great working dogs though, but aren't as hyper as Shepherds.

Yes, Border Collies and Aussies may be better at agility, but they can be extremely hard to train, if you are used to a more laid back personality.

True, BCs and Aussies are NOT laid back! But I wouldn't say they're "extremely hard to train." They are lightning fast learners who almost train themselves. The problem with them is that they always need to learn new things, and to use the skills they've already learned. They're not easy dogs to live with if you don't constantly train them and exercise their minds AND their bodies!



I just passed through a website about GSDs and their abilities--amazing dogs. Out of Rotts, Beagles, and GSDs, I'd take the GSD for obedience and agility too!

I didn't mean that Borders and Aussies are not intelligent and that it is hard to teach them.

What I meant is for a person like myself who is used to the generally slow and laid back world of a Rottweiler it is difficult to adjust to such a different dog.

I've had the experience of training a Golden and a Shepherd in agility because one owner has Parkinsons and the other is 80 years old and has an artificial hip, both dogs were already trained at least to the Intermediate level, but it took a long time to adjust to being behind the dog instead of in front of him. These dogs went so fast!

If you are looking for a dog that is easy to train and good at agility i think you should get a border colie. They are really good at
agility and they are smartest dog. If you watch dog show on animals planet sometimes they will show you a agilty. If you want to get a small breed that does agility good at I think you should get a Jack russell terrier they are pretty smart too. Boder colies are my favorite dog so I know lot about them if you want a smart dog and does a agility good at you should get a boder colie.

I agree with Logan and Ilovehounds! You already have the perfect breed to do agility with. Any dog is the perfect dog if you are willing to spend the time with them to teach them what you want. There are just some that catch on quicker than others but that shouldn't stop the owner from training them! The key to agility is to JUST HAVE FUN!

I always wanted my dog to do agility but I don't know where the plce is. Because it's good exercise for your dog and when I see dog that does agility on the tv they looks like there enjoying. I have a minpin that is really jumpy but I think it will take little long to train him to do agility.
