Sarah, did you make the tuna ones out of regular canned tuna?

We have a ton of canned tuna and we rarely eat it.

Yep! They haven't had that flavor yet, but I know they'll love it. They love anything with fish

I feed thawed usually but last night the boys had their llama half frozen. If I forget to thaw meat in time, I'd rather feed frozen meat than kibble.

Snowy eats thawed/fresh meat too quickly that it comes out again sometimes
so I prefer to give it to her frozen - well in this hot weather anyway

I always freeze my meat for atleast a week or so before giving it to them - and I give it to them straight from the freezer. It makes them chew it more.

This morning Simba and Nala had a chicken leg each.
Kiara had carrot/banana puree and chicken nuggets.

I feed both ways. Usually boneless meat is frozen because they'll gulp it right up. Sometimes chicken is frozen because they eat it really fast. I try to thaw everything for Buck and Mandy because they pace themselves when they eat. Nova and Luka don't do that so sometimes they have the things I mentioned frozen.

Today they had a turkey leg. I have a half of a chicken thawing for Buck for dinner. I have chicken feet thawing for Nova and Mandy, and I have a pig foot thawing for Luka.

Visa doesn't like her meat frozen -- it hurts her teeth. The only stuff she will eat frozen are Nature's Variety Prairie Medallions.

    ~Kay~

The Timberwolf dog food came yesterday. The fur kids LOVED it. It seems so much better than the Nutro. They had the Timberwolf for breakfast, tonight I'm going to try them on some raw chicken. Wish me luck.

Thank you Kay for the beautiful sig!

Wonderful! Glad the girls like their new food. Do you think you'll be feeding them this for good now?

I heard the other day Nutro is now using soybean oil instead of sunflower oil to cut costs.

Yes, I think I will be feeding them the Timberwolf from now on. It is a little pricey, BUT the difference in the ingriedents compared to the Nutro are amazing. I wouldn't doubt Nutro is doing that. I was surprised to learn on the pit bull forum how many people think Nutro is crap. A lot of the people on that board feed raw also.

I've studied canine nutrition A LOT this year so far and in my opinion, Nutro is pretty low. However, it's A LOT better than a majority of dog owners feed.

Haven't been on the Pittie forum in a while. Didn't really feel "in" there because I don't have a purebred Pit, yet..

Who was this "someone?" If you bargain and feed correctly, it's cheaper in the long run. If you buy in bulk and portion out correctly, it's cheaper and lasts longer.

It depends on the individual. For a while I was spending way more on raw (the food itself. I was still saving on vet bills!) Now that I can buy in bulk, it costs me a little over a dollar a day to feed two dogs. I also like to buy the more expensive things like elk, venison, llama, buffalo, rabbit, and such though.
