25-Year-Old Abandoned Kittens In Parks

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- A woman has been sentenced to spend a night in the woods without water, food or light.

Painesville Municipal Court Judge Michael A. Cicconetti handed down the sentence Thursday to Michelle M. Murray, 25, for abandoning 33 kittens in the woods at two parks in northeast Ohio.

Murray told Lake Metropark rangers that she left the kittens they found in September because she was moving and having personal problems.

She was also ordered to pay $3,200 to the Lake County Humane Society and $500 to Lake Metroparks.

This isn't the first unusual sentence for Cicconetti. In the past, he ordered a man who hollered "pigs" to police officers to stand on a street corner next to a pig.

He made a man charged with playing his car stereo too loudly sit in the woods in order to appreciate silence.

He also made a group of high school students who vandalized school buses throw a picnic for a group of grade-school students whose picnic was canceled because of the stunt.

Cicconetti also made some teens who threw rocks at cars from a bridge hold a giant sign on a busy road at Christmas saying what they did and that they were sorry.

She claimes she was a rescue. When the kittens were found they all had tags on them telling their age, sex and name!!!

We had a judge here that used to enforce punishments like that, I think he's a senator now. If someone stole from a store, he made them sit outside the store or at the street corner outside the store holding up a sign admitting to what they did.

Isn't that against human rights to force someone to be in a dangerous area with no food or water and what not? What if someone attacks them at night in the bushes?

Then too da*n bad, what if something had attacked and killed the kittens she left there to die? People should not have carte blanche to do whatever the hell they want with no punishment. If more people were punished like this then these things wouldn't happen a thousand times a day...I don't feel sorry for her one bit. Why is it okay for her to leave them to die but it's not okay for her to be left for one lousy night in the woods? She should have thought about that before she did it. I think abusers and the like should have to pay the same price they inflict on others, then maybe there wouldn't be so much of it going on with nothing real being done to stop it.

That is a bizzare sentence, but it is AWSOME!! What a great way to show people what they did was really wrong!
