    Sugar Skull Pictures!

Alexa and I finished our sugar skulls yesteday so here are the pictures.

This is what they look like right out of the mold, there are sperate parts of the skull the larger front side then the back of the head. We had to let them dry overnight.

The next step was to attatch them.

We let them sit for two hours then the decorating started.

This was my first attempt! Thankfully they got better

This is my Harry Potter skull.

    More of my skulls.

    A few of Alexa's

    and another one of mine.
    I've been Defrosted!

Thanks for the great signature Kay!

They came out very festive looking! Are you sticking them into kids Halloween bags? Are they edible, or just for the fun & celebration of the holiday? You both made a lot of them!!!

Thanks for all the nice replies! I'll try to answer some of your questions.

    How big are they?
About the size of a baseball.

Do you give them out at Halloween?
These are actually to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) an important holiday in many Latin American cultures. I made a thread explaining a little about the holiday which can be found by clicking here

you mush share the recipe & where you got the moulds. I'd LOVE to make those next year
Pretty much all I used was sugar and meringue powder. The molds I was able to find locally, but this website has everything that you need.

ok now to answer the rest of the questions!

Are they edible, or just for the fun & celebration of the holiday? You both made a lot of them!!!
They are edible but really they are more for decoration. We made 24 total, so we each had 12 to decorate and give to our friends.

Out of curiousity how much sugar did it take to make all of them?
For the actual skulls we used 10 lbs of sugar! To make the royal icing which is what we used to decorate we used 4 lbs of powdered sugar.
