Anyone in San Diego

I am in San Diego for the next few weeks on a work project. I would like to visit a shelter here and take a look at their facilities and possibly talk to someone about how they do things.

Anyone from this area have any suggestions? I am staying at the Residence Inn on Pacific Highway. I have a rental car, so I can drive wherever, but I would like to stay relatively close so I don't get lost.

I have to admit, I am going through dog withdrawl and would love to connect with some pooches.
