    Success!!! Yeah for me!!

I was tired of waking up every morning to see more litter on the surrounding floor of the litter box, than in the box itself!! So i became creative last night and built the great wall around the box! I woke up this morning to a clean laundry room floor I know the last thing you want to see is someone else's litter box, but i thought you might get a chuckle out of my newest invention! ( Please excuse the mop behind the box...the box is inbetween the washer and the heater room)...here it is....

What a great idea. If only I could do something along those lines so that when Andy "goes" I don't have a huge mound of litter next to the box. He is quite the 'covering' kitty. (Yesterday he jumped right into the box next to him where Trevor was still 'going' and started covering Trevor's contribution to the box). I guess he is a little obsessively clean! It would involve moving my litter boxes up against a wall and I don't know how Trevor and Andy would adjust to moving their potties. Hmmm...... Anyway, congrats on your creativity!

I should add...Guinness was/is a very messy kitty when it comes to the litter box (obsessed , i guess you could say)...it wasnt my sweet Dandy He doesn't just get a few morsels outside of the box...i think he must have a shovel hiding somewhere...LOL, b/c that is how much he would dump out!!

I would get one of those litter boxes, but i really only have room for one large box ( hence the rubbermaid box that i am now using...since i have 2 cats)...i dont have room to get 2 of those covered boxes, which is what i would need since i have the 2 cats But that would solve the problem too

I have a covered litter box that both Hayley and Mandy use. I still get litter all over the floor. I think they take paw fulls and put it there to make me mad. I thought Mandy would have realized by now that when she does that mommy get the vacuum out and she is very scared of that. Maybe in time she will learn.

I don't know if it's Tubby or Peanut, but I'm thinking it's Tubby that did this......I have 3 litter boxes. I scoop them every morning and smooth out the litter that is left in the box. Well one morning I went down to scoop. Two of the boxes had the usual deposits and I didn't think anything of it, but the third box had a hole dug right in the middle, all the way down to the bottom of the box.....and nothing deposited!! Evidently somebody just had the urge to dig for awhile.

I am very lucky to be able to put the litter boxes in the basement otherwise I would have huge messes all the time too. Congratulations on the new "walls."

My Mitzi is a litter-flinger too Her box has a lip around it which seems to keep most of the litter in the box. Mishi, however, doesn't like to get his paws dirty and seems to think that pawing at the rug around the box will do the trick. My Goldie used to do that too; she never did figure out how to bury her "stuff." I'm hoping Mitzi will teach him some of her "digging to China" tricks, without the litter-flinging part.

Me too, as Pixel is OBSESSIVE about the neatness of her tray, but not at all worried about the neatness on the laundry floor. So much so, that she will often go into the litter box to just clean it up, and not to do any business!!

The box is a great idea as the covered box was really expensive and those with bunches of kitties might find it a lot easier to improvise!

I have two covered litterboxes and they still manage to fling some of the litter out. Sunny and Cirrus leap out of the litterbox so fast that they scatter litter every where. Sunny also digs to China but he also piles all of the litter into one big pile so I have to make sure and shake the litterbox first before I take off the hood or else litter falls out every where. At least Sunny now covers his poop because he used to not do this before.

Oh i have that problem too, infact its worse because our litter box has to be in the lounge, our laundry is our entrance and way to small, and there is no where else, i have a small house, ive got a better litter now and i dont get the dust i used to, it was terrible, i think your invention is just what i need. give my girl some privacy too.
I notice sometimes lexie does a pee and does not cover it or dig, do your cats do that, the other she always digs and covers, and sometimes for pee too, must depend how she feels on the day eh

Cubby stands outside his litterbox and he digs. Then after he thinks there is enough litter on the floor he will go potty. After he gets done he stands outside of his litterbox all over again to cover it up then again after enough litter goes on the floor he is ready to leave.

Does anyone else's cat cry in the morning, Cubby's litter box is in the bathroom and he will cry until i go in there to go potty so he can go. If I don't go when I am told to (while he is crying) then he will come out and bite my legs and arms and what ever else he can get at until I go potty with him. Then I have to stay in there until he is done so he has light to shine on his work I guess. But after his first potty in the morning he has no problem going on his own. Anyone else have that problem?

D'you get the impression you're leaning on an open door here CM?

We have the litterbox in the utility room - Dan goes into litterbox does whatever he needs then scratches the litter, scratches the freezer, scratches the washing machine, scratches the polythene under the litter box - you get the picture?!! Glad to report Bagel and Ketchum are more 'normal' - they just dig a bit!!!
