    Men....ugh.

I have to crumb on my species today.

    Men are meatheads.

I was in line at Target and in front of me was a guy with a 2/3 year old kid.

At firt I could not see the child, but cfould hear her fussing about wanting candy.

The dad was doing his best to ignore her and he began to talk to the cashier, who I didn't notice was HUGELY preggers!

The guy was frazzled because I heard him ask the young gal, "Is this your first one?" She smiled and replied, "Yes!"

This idiot goes into a spiel about how nice it is when you first have them and how badly it turns out as the get older.
I thought, "----, what an idiot...." I looked at the gal and she just got a real sour look on her face......

When he finished the transaction and began to walk away, I told the gal, "He's wrong. As they get older, you become a better parent."

Her face lit up and she whispered to me, 'I like that idea better...'

I don't have kids- and I refuse to use that stupid line "That I know of...."
It's just really amazing how stupid men are when it comes to taking of kids.

Yes, there are wonderful dads out there, but god, I end up seeing most of the idiots out there..

That is sad. It seems parents are becoming less and less interested in their own children. It isn't just men Richard. There are plenty of bad moms out there too.

This reminds me of a corporate dinner that I attended and I was sitting across from a man who loudly proclaimed that his son was a disappointment to him and that it's ok b/c he was sure that he was a disappointment to his son, too. I said "Why? He's a good kid! He's an honor student, a champion swimmer, doesn't get into trouble, etc...." and he said "He got older. We like babies".
    Blessings,

And believe me at my job I see it all the time. Why just the other day a woman ordered 2 alcholic drinks for her two young kids and sat them in front of her (I KNOW she ordered them for the kids because I heard her say "I ordered this for you" as I walked away!). The boy couldn't have been more than 6 and the girl maybe 15 I just don't understand why people have kids...oh yeah because they choose not to use protection

I have seen women and men equally offend in this matter.

At least these days, if the couple splits and the father WANTS custody, he has a shot at getting it, I have friend who were put in foster care and an orphanage because when their parents split and mother didn't want the kids, the court refused to give them to the dad because he worked, and wouldn't be home all day - even though the kids were school-aged.

I was more irked that he was dismissive of the child, "No, you don't want any candy...." as opposed to speaking to her and explaining why she was not getting any.

His comments about her being pregnant for the first time and the kids 'getting worse' as they grow older was just plain insensitive.

Here's a gal that's probably excited about having a kid, and this knucklehead makes her feel badly.

I know that kids are a handful - I just thought his comments weren't polite.

I wasn't there. I can share with you that sometimes child can get a little, uh, whiny, when it comes to candy. Maybe he knows that engaging in dialogue only gives reason for the child to continue? I know with J, a stern, "no, we are not getting candy today" one time and no further acknowledgment, works better than explaning several times.

Many people of both genders have to work today. They have to work for different reasons, or <gasp> cause they like to. Women have made huge advancements in terms of education, employment and social equality, if you will. 50 years ago, it was, IMO, a bleaker life for women. They either stayed home with their children or took on traditional "female" roles (nursing or teaching). Often times, these women elected not to have children. Good for them, if that is what they wanted.

I believe Karen is referring to the way it used to be. Not currently.

"Men" who say that children are the 'worst thing that can happen from sex', have no idea what they are missing.

I cannot put into words what my daughter makes me feel. Love without end, fear, worry, joy....

I understand what a privilidge it is to be entrusted with raising a soul. Said that so many others don't.

    You made my point.

I probably have no right to have commented on the conversation that I heard...I understand that this dude was probably not in a good mood about the situation.

I know enough about human nature and raising kids to know that it may have been a 'bad day' for him? But, how can you dimiss your kid by telling them 'no' in a cranky manner, and in almost the same sentence, make someone feel that a life changing event for them is nothing but a PITA?

I understand there are different sides to this story, but I do feel that his comments were rude and uncalled for.
