    My New Pet Calf

This is Pete. I get him in a week. He was born on a dairy farm where they have no use for male calves(they shoot them for coyote bait). it costs $75 to take them to auction and they only get $25 for the calf, so dusiness wise its better to get rid of them. the shot gun was loaded for him when I walked in, so i said i would take him(they already shot 2 others). He was premature with a twin heifer(which are worth $1000). he will be 6 weeks when i get him. Im only 100 lbs, and i can pick him up no problem, thats how small he is. If you train them right they are like a big dog, always wanting scratches. heres a pic of him

Im going to train him to take a sadle and eventually ride him. since hes so young I will be able to bond with him like a horse. Hes a little timid now, but i had met a 2 week older female calf that was handled by the owners of the farm a little more, and she was just like a dog, wanting to be scratched and was even playing with their 12 week old pup. It was so cute. They say he will stay small for about 4 months and then grow like a weed. It has been a dream of mine since I was little to have a riding steer and now i finally have the chance
