    Mishi's across the Bridge

My big golden boy is gone. He had a peaceful passing and I'm glad I waited for the good vet to be there; she helped to make it special. He basically fell asleep in my arms and then we laid him on the table for the final drug to do its deed. He had tears in his eyes as he passed over the bridge so we both were crying at the end and I got to stay with him for a long time afterwards.

He's out of his pain and suffering. I know I did the right thing at the right time, but it's never easy

I took lots of pictures of him this morning before we left. He was being super cute, burying his nose in his fluffy tail which always makes me melt with the cuteness. The vet's office actually called to let me know she was running late, so we had an extra half or or so and I let Mitzi say her goodbyes too - she gave him a farewell sniff and then went and hid under the bed. It may be morbid, but I also took a pic of him with my cellphone after he was gone - he just looks very peaceful and relaxed.

Rest in peace my golden big boy - you will always have your velvet paws wrapped around my heart.

I'm sending you comforting thoughts and hope the pain will be less in time. It's so sad to say goodbye, but you did it at the right time. I'm glad to read that Mishi had a peaceful journey to the RB.

Mishi, you will be sorely missed, but will always have a spot in your mom's heart.

    Rest in Peace, sweet Mishi.

    ((((hugs))))

Well, I knew it was coming and said prayers for you and Mishi all morning, but I'm still in tears for your loss. We all loved Mishi and I'm so glad his passing was peaceful and his spirit is flying free from his tired body.

This morning I said a silent prayer that his passing would be peaceful.....good to hear it was. I always thought that one day I would get down there and meet you and the two furbabies. Well Mishi, I guess I'll have to wait a little longer to meet you. I hope the many candles and prayers lit your way clearly to the RB.

This kind of decision is never easy but we all know it's the right one. To let go, is such an act of love and I have no doubt that you will be reunited some day. In the meantime, take comfort in knowing your friends are here for you. I would love to see the pictures, especially the one with the cell phone. You can email it to me if others think it's too morbid.

Big {{{hugs}}} to you on this sad day.

Georgia, I had already replied in the other thread but I'll reply here too.

I'm so sorry that Mishi had to make his trip to the Bridge yesterday. I'm glad that it was a peaceful one but I know that this was a very difficult thing for you to do. Now he's painfree and playing hard up at the Bridge. We'll all miss you sweet boy. RIP handsome Mishi. Please take care. (((HUGS)))

    Unhappy

I am so sorry to read about Mishi. Georgia, you took excellent care of him and you explored every possible option. Unfortunately, the time comes when nothing else can be done and as much as it hurts, we have to let go. Mishi knows how much you love him and he will always be with you. Sleep softly, dear sweet Mishi....and hugs to Georgia...

I'm so sorry, Georgia. Even when we know it's time, it's still hard. You gave Mishi the very best life he could ever have hoped for, and now he is waiting for you at the RB.

RIP sweet boy. You will be missed.

Thank you everyone. Your kind words do help; I'm just really sad. Mitzi is eating up the extra love and attention she's getting. I think she's finally realized he's gone.

I just about lost it in the pet food aisle at Safeway today and then I remembered I did the same thing when Goldie passed, however Mitzi still needs her treats. I don't think I'll ever look at a can of Fancy Feast again without thinking of Mishi - that was all he was living on his final month.

I posted a memorial to Mishi on the Rainbow Bridge Monday Night candle ceremony for this Monday, however in my grief I put his DOD as 7/13/08. I can't figure out how to edit it, but I guess it will have to stay. We know he's gone anyway. That candle ceremony really helped me heal after Goldie's passing.
