Hee hee, I chose other. Because it really depends on the situation I am in. I was extremely shy as a child. If you ask anyone who knows me now they wouldn't believe I was ever shy in my life. But I can be kinda shy in certain situations.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I chose "Pretty Confident" but really I am perfectly fine in both scenarios. I used to be EXTREMELY shy but I overcame it.

I chose shy in person, but not on internet. I really am only shy though with guys or people I used to go to school with.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

I forgot to answer my own thread!

I am very shy with meeting people I know from the internet or dont know at all in person...... the first time I met one of my best friends (we had to sit next to each other) she thought I was really weird (I TRIED to make conversation..... and see kinda ignored me a bit and stared out of the window) and I thought she was really stuck up and looked down on everyone!
We were both very wrong! But I get so nervous with new people! (Its amazing what one friend you are both friends with which nither of you can find can do......... thats how we made friends.... we both have giggle fits if we think about the first day now! )

I am pretty outgoing but very shy when I meet new people or if I am in a new environment.

I chose in the middle, although generally I vary from person to person. With people my own age, and people that I know well at school, I am a very confident person. I can generally talk to anyone in that category about anything, even embarassing or personal stuff sometimes. I'm not afraid to say what I think, even if it often gets me into bother.

Next in my confidence scale comes the internet. I would say I'm of average confident here, as I know that I can use my way with words to convey my opinions and feelings. However, I'm not a particularly trusting person. That's not to say that I am suspicious of everyone on this forum, but I make a point of not telling everything to everyone I have got to know during my time here. If, perhaps, the time comes when I have the opportunity to meet these people face to face, then I'm sure that this will be a different scenario, but I like to know people as people rather than words on a page before I can fully appreciate how trustworthy they are.

Then I would say that sometimes I am not as confident with people who are older than me and have some sort of authority. I am not exactly a shy person towards them, but I am quiet and reserved and will not go out of my way to crack a joke or burst into conversation; more likely I will speak when spoken to and remain smiling but serious, as I am quite a serious person underneath. I suppose that I really don't like the idea of making a bad impression of myself, so I tend not to be over-exuberant or loud!

I used to be a bit shy when I was younger, but no more! I may get a bit nervous over a new situation or meeting some new people but it wouldn't stop me from meeting them. After 5 minutes, I feel like I've known someone forever.

It depends. If I'm meeting people on my turf, in my element, etc, I am VERY confident and in control. If I am meeting someone when I'm unsure about something I can be flighty and VERY insecure.

Example: at work right now I am actng as a sales person in a furniture store until I learn all the product, and then I'll be the store's designer. This salesperson thing has been torture for me; I get easily rattled over numbers so when it comes down to ordering things for customers I get hyper and stressed over the final amount I quote the customer, AND atessed about whether I wrote the right part # down and right color # down, and right option #s. All these numbers!!!

I get so worked up that anything occuring around the time of handing the final paperwork gets bumbled. They all laugh at me for this fact and consider me ditzy. I do through the same airhead act EVERY sale. Its so bad that the other sales people were afraid to have me on design presentations because they thought I'd get tongue tied and blurt out stupid things like I do around numbers time. But to their immense surprise I am cool, calm, collected and very much in charge when it comes to design presentations. I have more than enough confidence when I'm doing what I know, and when I know I do it well.

I don't know the meaning of shy. I am actually very outspoken and rather bold.
LOL Michelle you reminded of why my Mum dislikes going anywhere with me, especially if i come across a pet shop that sells animals.. all customers get to hear my point of view, and get told to go to the animal shelters .

I'm very confident. I know not everyone can like you, and being yourself is great. I've had talks with friends about their first impressions of each other, and most of their comments were about how sociable I was and how I knew everyone and how confident I seemed.
