Please think of this beautiful boy- UPDATE

Sean has been adopted to a wonderful family! He will have a German Shepherd brother. I'm sure he's so happy to be in his new furever home!

There is a beautiful German Shepherd named Sean at the local shelter I volenteer at. The manager says we aren't allowed to walk him or let him out of his kennel to play because he's a German Shepherd and says the breed can be unpredictable. I don't think that's fair at all to Sean!! How can they just judge him because of his breed... I don't think that's even true about GSDs. He has to sit there 24/7 in his kennel. Poor guy... please put him in your thoughts that he is adopted soon.

Ugh, I hate it when people think like that

But one thing that confuses me is why they would still adopt out an "unpredictable" animal I know he's really not, but most rescue organizations put the dangerous ones to sleep.

I do hope he finds a good home who is able to care for such a strong-willed breed (they're not unpredictable, though!). Hey, Mandy's a GSD mix and even though she's dog agressive I can pretty much predict it every time it's about to happen

Poor boy! I really hope he is adopted soon by a loving family who truly realizes that he's not "umpredictable"...

Exactly... I don't get it. He's a sweetie and he loves to lick my fingers through the cage. Poor boy. I will keep you updated whether he gets adopted or not.

Gah.. why even run a shelter if they're going to automatically judge a dog by its breed! My grandmum had owned GSDs for 30+ years, and they only ran across one that had a foul temper. I remember one of her GSDs was one of the sweetest dogs I ever met.
Positive thoughts headed Sean's way. Hopefully someone can give him a wonderful home and not judge him so quickly.

Jesus.. cant you try and reason with him? like ask if two people walk with him or even have him muzzled if thats what hes worried about? A german shepard needs walks! cooped up in a kennel all day will drive him mad Poor boy I hope something works out with him.

Does he have problems? is he vicious? or is it just your boss overreacting?

Not true at all. I've owned 3 GSD's and they were all dog friendly and loved other dogs . Sounds like an excuse to me. I'd try him with one dog, very social, in the walk area and see how he does and take it from there. They're being very unfair to this guy and need to wake up. He won't be adoptable if he isn't social. My girlfriend has a GSD and brings her to play with my Labs on a regular basis. Someone at your shelter needs to wake up!
