I had never seen the show on TV, and enjoyed the DVDs. Mr. Millan is very much in tune with the dogs' mindset, and works hard to train the people every bit as much as the dogs.
It was heart-wrenching seeing the one family who were told by everyone - even their veterinarian - that their beloved young Boxer was "just going to get worse," and to have it put to sleep. Cesar Millan saved not only that dog's life, but the whole family's hearts from breaking. (I had tears in my eyes.)
Each episode features a different dog or dogs, with different problems. And over and over, Mr. Millan talks to the people, and works with the dog and problem after problem virtually disappears.
He so obviously loves the dogs, dogs of all shapes and sizes and temperaments - even when he gets bitten, he doesn't react with anything but "calm attention," a phrase he says repeatedly, but that you really see demonstrated in the videos.
Watching this makes me wish I had seen this years ago.
A disclaimer: Miss Hoppy, of course, has trained us perfectly and does not need Mr. Millan's attention, which she wanted to make sure I mentioned. Besides, she's a rabbit.
